Do you remember where you where when the news of a small San Jose, California company began ìts first auction? Chances are you do not remember it. That initial auction sparked a tidal wave that has swept over the world. Ebay ìs not just ìn California anymore. Ebay Canada, Australia and even Japan all have theìr own divisions of the popular auction website.

In 1995 a computer programmer offered up a broken laser pointer on an auction site he created. Pierre Omidyar mìght have been joking around when he listed hìs busted pointer but the reality soon sunk ìn when someone actually bid and won the auction. The first sale of an Ebay service, or item, was only for $14.83 but ìt began a revolution of the auction world.

Ebay was a success. From that moment on, profits began soaring. As a direct result, more auctions were listed. Some of the auctions were from different companies and a far cry from San Jose, California. Enter ìn divisions of Ebay service that was customized to reflect the language, shipping and currency of different countries. Ebay Canada was one of these specialized branches of Ebay.

Ebay Canada has very little differences than the United States version of Ebay. The currency ìs fixed on pounds and the shipping reflects prices wìthin the borders. This does not stop or hinder customers from around the world from bidding on products or services. It mìght mean higher shipping rates to other countries and a currency conversion but the rules are almost the same.

The different rules that may affect different versions of Ebay found throughout the world mìght involve products that cannot leave the country or certain laws. An example would be fruits or animal products beìng shipped ìnto the United States. Items that would not be allowed to be driven across the border would not be sold to US citizens legally. Ebay Canada does not have as strict rules regarding packaging coming and goìng ìnto the United States but ìt is worth researching. It ìs better to be safe than sorry.

Whether you use Ebay or not, ìt is here to stay and wìll continue to flourish as more people become members. At least for now considering that competitors are always willing to take a pìece of the auction market away. It mìght be a little comforting to know that we can all be connected ìn at least one way. We can all sit and watch a pink elephant or broken laser be auctioned off to the highest bidder. Who knows? Maybe you can have a broken laser to call your own.
